Remembering Dr Sabga

Dr Anthony N Sabga, founder of the Caribbean’s most prestigious awards programme, would have turned 101 today. Before he passed away in 2017 at the age of 94, Dr Sabga established an award that was truly Caribbean in scope, like the business that he also founded.

At the ANSA McAL Foundation and the ANSA McAL Group, we like to believe that he’s thoroughly pleased with the regional impact of the Awards – conferred upon 7 Barbadians, 14 Guyanese, 13 Jamaicans, 10 nationals of Eastern Caribbean states, and 18 Trinbagonians to date.

Dr Sabga, with the first Chairman of the Regional Eminent Persons Panel, Sir Ellis Clarke, and 2006 Arts & Letters Laureate, filmmaker Robert ‘Yao’ Ramesar.
